Sylvia (aka Maske Maiden) is a multimedia artist with a focus in mask-making. Informed by her years as a freelance fashion designer and seamstress, Sylvia’s aesthetic incorporates materials found in dressmaking and a tailor's approach to construction. 

With a degree in fashion design and textiles she has worked in different fashion-related jobs. In 2014, she founded an alterations business with a focus on custom designed clothing and accessories. During the shutdown in 2020, she found her way to mask-making as a creative outlet and a practical way to maintain her sewing and technical skills. 

As an emerging artist, Sylvia has found many opportunities to showcase her masks through collaborative efforts with fellow artists, workshops, social media, and commissions. She dreams of making site-specific work, environmentally focused making, and further artistic collaborations.
