EBENEZER NKBENEZER MENSAH

ARtist-in-residence / APRIL 8 – JUNE 16, 2026

Ebenezer Nketsiah Mensah is an artist who recently earned an MFA in Studio Arts from the University of Florida. He previously obtained his BFA in Painting and Sculpture from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in 2018. Mensah's works serve as a compelling narrative that explores complex themes, including identity, labor, history, migration, and materiality through his installations, paintings, sculptures, and photo documentaries. Mensah reflects on his personal experiences as a miner and construction worker in Tarkwa, Ghana. Through his art, he highlights critical issues surrounding these practices, explores the lives of those involved, and examines their impact on communities in both Ghana and the U.S., where these activities occur, along with the related geopolitics of labor. His work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, both nationally and internationally, including in the USA and Ghana. He has received numerous awards and fellowships, including the Windgate Fellowship award in 2024, the Grinter Fellowship (upgraded to 12 months of funding), and the Dean’s Award - First Runner-Up in 2025 at the University of Florida Juried Exhibition. His growing career continues to significantly impact contemporary art.
